A concept I had for this website is to create a resource of people who have inspired or motivated me, and effectively contributed to the creation of Maqaroon. When I was in my teens I loved drawing fanart (Zelda, Final Fantasy, you name it) so I thought it would be nice to thank those bloggers with some fanart of themselves.

It was great fun putting together the details for each portrait. (Forgive me if you feel a bit stalked…but don’t worry, I’m a small friendly girl and not some hikikomori creeper :P). Where relevant I tried including for your favourite items of clothing, trademark outfits or animal mascots.

I’ll be uploading a few portraits every week. These are in an entirely random order so there’s no ranking of any sort. There’s a mix of various genres, ranging from beauty gurus, fashion, niche styles, cute stuff and humour. These are also topics that would probably interest Maqaroon customers so I hope you’ll find these links useful! The first two featured blogs are:

I’ve probably spent hours and hours browsing at all the cute stuff on this incredibly fun blog! Seeing all the things that people made or designed themselves really kept me motivated during tiring phases of work.

I absolutely love Jen’s tutorials because they’re such a valuable source of beauty and fashion advice for oriental features. Mainstream european media & magazines never use Asians so it’s very refreshing to find role models in my own ethnicity.
